A true story about the distance between the lady of the homestead & workers wives
Apparently there was a bush fire in the area & the workers wife went up to big house to see how the women were coping & found all the windows open & went around to shut them all.
When she returned to where she had left the women, they had disappeared & gone down to the wharf & been picked up by a passing boat & left her to fend for herself !!!
When she told her husband what had happened that evening, he immediately handed in his resignation & told them the reason why & said he couldn't for people that had
treated his wife that way
