The story goes that Porepunkah got its name as follows
A farmer has a dog called Punk ah
Punk ah fell into the river & someone called out
there goes
PORE PUNK AH
Believe or not !!! but it's a good yarn
This is the little village where we are housesitting
1 pub, 1 general store/PO/petrol, school
Alluvial Gold was discovered all around the area in 1852 & many tent towns grew up along the rivers
