Cobar - Mining Heritage park

Memorial

The European discovery of copper near Cobar was first made by three tank-sinkers,
Charles Campbell, Tom Hartman & George Gibb who were travelling through  the area in 1869.
Once they identified samples from the region as copper, the men quickly staked a claim on the area & started what has been a long & colourful history of mining in Cobar
